Travel Insurance: No one wants to pay for things they don’t need.  The question we get asked the most frequently, is “do I really need travel insurance?”  Our answer is yes, if you want to protect the investment you made for your vacation and want to have protection and peace-of-mind while traveling. With vacation insurance you can reschedule your vacation due to illness, death in the family, or weather conditions. In some cases, travel insurance can cover costs due to illness or other emergencies while you are on your vacation.  About 95% of our clients choose to purchase vacation insurance.  Part of our job is to quote the cost of your travel insurance, which will vary by trip, and to go over what the insurance covers.  This will help you to make an informed decision.

Passports:  Be sure your passport book is current.  This means it does not expire until after you return from your vacation.  In fact, some countries require that your passport be valid at least three months past your travel dates.  Make a copy of the first page of your passport and leave it with someone at home.

Health Precautions:  If you are traveling out of the country contact the travel nurse at your clinic as soon as you book your trip.  They may suggest necessary medications or immunization shots depending on your destination.

Credit Cards: Notify your credit card company that you may be making purchases outside your state/country and the dates of your travel.

Money: While travelers checks are still a valid option in some countries, pre-paid ATM cards are one of the newest, safest ways to travel with money.  They can be purchased at AAA and some banks.  They are not tied to your checking or savings account and can be used at just about any ATM worldwide, including the U.S.

Airline Requirements: A few weeks prior to your trip, read over check-in procedures and baggage allowances for the airline you will be flying.
